Untapped Potential Project: UP2

The Untapped Potential Project (UP2) engages community partners—families, educators, employers, private trade leaders, and policymakers—in our mission to design and launch high-performing trade programs within existing private schools that serve low-income students in communities of color. These career-focused programs ensure each graduate is prepared for post-secondary educational pathways, and proficient in at least one employable technical skill.

Untapped Potential Project Approach

Community Engagement

We mobilize a broad, diverse, and influential coalition of stakeholders to demonstrate citizen demand for highly-effective, career-focused education pathways.

School Partnership

We develop partnerships with existing private schools to train students through expert-level skills training, access to world class trade training facilities, real-world work experiences, and placement into career-building apprenticeships.

Policy Change

We advocate for the state policy changes needed to accommodate and properly fund CTE training at the K-12 level through private schools.
